Well it looks like bogus Federal Reserve scams intended to prop up the DJIA don’t have the magic power that they used to. (As if proping up the DJIA was a valid goal inthe first place.)

So….

It’s official. Morgan Stanley has issued a “full US recession” alert.

Morgan Stanley has issued a full recession alert for the US economy, warning of a sharp slowdown in business investment and a “perfect storm” for consumers as the housing slump spreads.

In a report “Recession Coming” released today, the bank’s US team said the credit crunch had started to inflict serious damage on US companies. - Via Kos

Castle, Pelosi, Lewis, Snyder Commemorate 50th Anniversary of Little Rock Nine

– December 7, 2007 Washington, D.C. Delaware Congressman Mike Castle joined Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Congressmen John Lewis and Vic Snyder to recognize the desegregation of the Little Rock Central High School. The Little Rock Nine was a group of African-American students who were enrolled in Little Rock Central High School in 1957.

Three democrats. I wonder when Castle is going to start hanging around with Michael Moore or Barbara Streisand?

When I hear them it is like nails on a chalkboard.  In my other life I had a perfectly legitimate business opportunity (to expand my robotic pigmy Alpaca farm) and DEDO could not be less interested. I would say that I was treated with whatever is one notch above disdain.

The whole experience reminded me of how poorly economic development is handled in this state.

ps. My libertarian readers will be please to know that the venture is going forward with out help of the state.

Is this Beth Miller lead a nail in Protack’s coffin, or a nail in his palm? That is the question.

I’ve gotta think Coffin.  It was pretty devastating.    Al is talking about it now and I’m trying to get through but the phone lines seem jammed.

I find it funny that when you listen to WDEL the economic news is always good. Today for example, the markets are going to be going like gangbusters since the interest rate was cut. Whoopie!!

But when you read actual economists, the bubbly optimism is had to find.

“And even the soft-landing optimists at JPMorgan are now recognizing that the likelihood of a US recession is now at its highest level in years. When mainstream analysts such as Berner start to talk about a recession being likely you know that the debate has clearly shifted towards a discussion of not whether a recession but rather how deep of a recession.”

4:06 Update: Well it looks like the magic of the quarter point rate cut is wearing off.

Senate Republicans’ 5-point plan for more open

and accountable government

  • Pass legislation under FOIA (Freedom of Information Act) to define the General Assembly and all its standing and ad hoc committees as “public bodies”.

  • Change Senate Rules to do away with the power of a Senate Committee chair to single-handedly kill legislation by preventing public debate (“desk drawer veto”).
  • Change Senate Rules to create a deliberative process that guarantees legislation will get a public hearing in committee within a reasonable time frame.
  • Post Senate Roll Call votes on the General Assembly website giving the public access to an accounting of individual votes by all Senators.
  • Close loopholes to avoid the potential and appearance of conflict inherent in holding dual roles in government, including a prohibition on paid registered lobbyists holding office on state Authorities, Boards, Commissions and statutory Committees

Well, half-assed is probably a bit of hyperbole, I mean it is a step forward. But what happened to provisions to recordings and broadcast the poceedings? Why can Wisconsin , Colorado, and other states get this done (some of them seven years ago) and we can’t?

Yes. It is that simple.

I wish I could be Gary Stockbridge* and pick which laws applied to me. I’d get to work a lot faster everyday.

*Some say that Gary Stockbridge is such a horrible person because he was deprived of maternal affection due to the fact that he was born with a full set of monstrous looking pointy teeth. I happen to endorse that theory.

There is some fantasyland thinking around Mike’s campaign that Iraq is over as an issue. The truth is that Mike’s Bush loving ways will haunt him according to Gallup.

The war in Iraq is the most important problem in the minds of Republicans and Democrats, although Democrats mention the war much more frequently than Republicans do. The vast majority of Republicans and Democrats say they trust their own party to better handle the nation’s top problem, but Republicans’ level of trust in their own party is at its lowest point since President George W. Bush was elected president.

Troll Bait: Yes, dear troll reader. I know Joe Biden and Tom Carper voted for the war.

Bluewater Wind is pleased to have finalized these discussions and come out with an excellent result: a win-win-win for Delmarva Power’s customers, the environment, and Bluewater Wind. The contract that was presented to the PSC today will guarantee the following to Delmarva Power’s customers:

  • A reduced energy price of almost 7/10 of a cent per kilowatt hour. Our new price – nine and 89/100 of a cent per kilowatt hour – yields a monthly energy cost reduction of about $6.97 as compared to the September Term Sheet bid amount.
  • Sales of at-market or below-market priced Renewable Energy Credits (RECs) for every megawatt hour of energy sold to Delmarva Power. This is an increase from 175,000 RECs to about 1,100,000 RECs. Bluewater is delighted that Delmarva Power sought to purchase more RECs from us.
  • Performance guarantees to ensure that Bluewater provides to Delmarva Power the contracted amount of clean, renewable and stable priced power.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
So let’s think up some fitting items. I’ll start…
1) What’s left of Mike Castle’s integrity. Yes it is in shreds but should still be worht six or seven bucks to someone.
2) A map to Lofink’s hideout. I can think of a NJ reporter (yes I’m looking at you Chris Barrish you fraud) who might bid on that.

I was just going through some old emails and I found this one I wrote to Al when I found out that he was going to be interviewing Ann Coulter.

Al,

Not that you need any help from me, but if I were interviewing Ann Coulter I’d first I’d thank Ann for her powerful witness for Christ. I’d say that the gospel of meekness and humility of overrated and that it does not take a biblical scholar to know that Jesus really called on his followers to be crass, abusive and violent. (So calling for the NY times to be bombed is perfectly consistent with Christianity.)

As a follower, she has clearly demonstrated the “fruits of the spirit” and I’d ask her which of the fruits of knowing Christ as savior does she think she most embodies in her walk with the lord? The fruits of the spirit as found in Galatians are: Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control – if she needs prompting.

I’d ask her if she thinks liberals can be “perfected” ….. in concentration camps……with alligator clips attached to their testicles? OR – She has stated that liberals hate even more than Islamic terrorists do – so why shouldn’t liberal just be rounded up and killed? Shouldn’t God sort them out?

Anyway,

The Dem won 67% to 33%. Grapevine provides the blah blah blah…

Use the comment section to answer this question.

What kind of majority leader will Bob Gilligan make?

My guess: Crappy. But it will be nice for Governor Markell to have a Dem Legislature to work with.

I’m not crazy about the singer, but that is the best labor/stike song I’ve heard in years.

Ok, so I’m sitting over at Von Crackers house.  You know rocking it out hand down my pants, ate a pound of nachos, just finished my first 6 pack, ready to get lit up type of afternoon with a few del lib readers tailgate party and Von Cracker made an observation about the ESPN signs.  I first commented, “seriously what freaking idiot brings an ESPN sign to a game.”

In a moment of enlightenment in my eyes Von Cracker says, “They are plants.  They make the signs and give them to some idiot and say ‘hold this and you will get on TV’” So I say to myself on my 7th beer.  That has to be the most brilliant statement of the year!

I had never given that much thought.  I just wrote it off to some idiot taking an hour or two of their night before the game, over weight loser that has nothing better to do with their life, ignore their children, fart in their barco lounger, ignore their wife type of idiot that has nothing better to do with their lives then route for a small college team that you would spend time making a freaking sign.

So from now on when some idiot holds up a sign it will be because ESPN gave them the sign.

Brilliant (after 8 beers now)
