Carper: Shameful silence.
Castle: “War? What war?”
Biden: Shameful self-promotion.
BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) — Nine U.S. troops died in Iraq during the weekend, including five killed by roadside bombs, the U.S. military reported Sunday.
Two soldiers were killed and two wounded Sunday when a roadside bomb exploded near their vehicle in northern Iraq, U.S. commanders in the northern city of Tikrit announced. The soldiers were assigned to the Army’s 3rd Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division.

The only way out of Iraq is to get out.
…and speaking of Biden, check out this crap covered by Karmic Jay:
Joe Biden our senator here in Delaware is planning on running for President in 2008. He always talks a good talk but not when it is needed or sometimes is just off the wall. I saw this on Corrente via Atrios.
If he keeps up this bullshit, I’m not only going to not vote for him, but might have to primary his ass. [That'll teach him!]

A significant proportion of the American populace does not have the war on it’s radar or it often take a backseat. So the response by these folks should nto be that much of a surprise should it? BTW there is a post on my blog from Sunday (by way of Eschaton) about Biden’s “Southern” strategy.

I fear you are right about that karmic. It’s is hard to imagine that almost 3,000 dead and tens of thousands of maimed military personnel hasn’t hit people’s radar. And that’s just Americans. The death toll for Iraqis is horrendous. Perhaps the greatest damage Bush has done is to turn us into a “me” nation. How heartbreaking.

Primary him?
Be careful, J. I believe you have a deal for five years. I wouldn’t want your wife to throw you in the river…

Biden has taken a route of being different from “other” candidates by being “real” and not fakey as John Kerry, Hillary Clinton, and John McCain will be portrayed.
Everthing Biden said was true and to my knowledge, unplagerized. He acknowledged the type of audience he was addressing and said nothing to compromise his cause.
Any leader who will be effective, must have some allegience from South Carolinian Republicans. Just as JFK proved that Catholics could win in West Virginia, we need someone to prove that Yankee liberal can win in South Carolina.
Most of you are too young, but I remember when the last person you would expect to promote Civil Rights, was a backwoods Senator from Texas. He wound up changing America.
Finally let me say, and I invoke the spirit of the Founding Fathers, the best defense of Free Speech is more Free Speech. To not talk about slavery solely because it may show insensitivity towards former slaves, does nothing to make the world better. Look who he is. He is not insensitive, he is Joe Biden.
He is not Trent Lott.
