Tonight the New Castle County Democratic Executive Committee unanimously passed this resolution in support of DNC Chairman Howard Dean.
Resolution of Support for
Chairman Howard Dean, M.D.
Whereas the New Castle County Executive Committee recognizes the leadership of DNC Chairman Howard Dean in our success in the 2006 elections and,
Whereas the New Castle County Executive Committee wishes to express our support of and thanks to DNC Chairman Howard Dean, now be it
Resolved that: The New Castle County Executive Committee wholeheartedly endorses and supports Chairman Howard Dean and his 50-state-strategy. Further, the Committee members are looking forward to the continuance of Chairman Dean’s leadership and victory in 2008 under that leadership.
……………………………………………………………..
This is a timely tip of the hat to Dean, who’s “50 State Strategy” allowed the Democrats take over control of both the House and Senate. As I reported here, the real impact of the “50 State Strategy” will be felt here in Delaware for years to come.
Even conservative Republicans commenters at Redstate.com have commented on how “50 State Strategy” effectively “destroyed the Republican Party in Delaware.”
…In August, Howard Dean sent $100,000 to lowly Delaware as part of his “50 State Strategy.” Delaware is a State that has gone for the Democratic Candidate for the past four Presidential elections. All pundits agree Delaware is a solidly Blue state.
The Delaware Republicans were putting up the most experienced prosecutor, with a 6-1 favorability, as their candidate for attorney general. The Democrats ran Beau Biden, who’s never prosecuted a single criminal case in Delaware. In the final weeks of the campaign, the Republican Ferris Wharton, and two Republican state senate (farm team) candidates held leads in the polls. That all changed however, in the final 72 hours of the campaign.
Turns out, the Democrats used the DNC’s $100,000 to pay for 2 field representatives who engineered the largest GOTV effort the Democrats had ever put forth in Delaware’s history. The state party used that money to rent 36 vans for union workers and paid college students to go door to door and drag Democrats to the polls and pull the blue lever. It provided the difference as Beau Biden won by a few percentage points. Both of the Republicans hoped-for farm team candidates lost badly as well. While Dean’s strategy may have seemed initially to be a poor use of limited resources, it effectively destroyed the Republican Party in Delaware.

Better late than never I guess.
Here is the link for doubters.

Not everyone on your team agrees:
Atlanta Journal-Constitution ^ | November 15, 2006 | Scott Shepard
Democratic strategist James Carville says his party should dump Howard Dean as chairman of the Democratic Party because of incompetence.
Carville, during coffee and rolls with political reporters today, said Democrats could have picked up as many as 50 House seats, instead of the nearly 30 they have so far.
The reason they didn’t, he said, is the Democratic National Committee did not spend some $6 million it could have put into so-called “third tier” House races against vulnerable Republicans.
Carville said the other Democratic campaign committees had borrowed to the hilt.
He said he tried to meet with Dean to argue for additional spending for Democrats in the final days of the campaign, but Dean declined and gave no reason why.
Asked by a reporter whether Dean should be dumped, Carville replied, “In a word, do I think? Yes.”

Hoot! The Con speaks to DEMs. DEMs say: Who the hell listens to Carville?
Beltway boys are part of the problem and since the netroots / grassroots and Dean pulled this election coup, there god-damned better be some accountability to that fact.

Carville’s comments reminds me of the old joke. After the lifeguard pulls the young boy out of the surf and saves his life, the boy’s mother glares at the lifeguard and snarls: “He had a hat.”

W00T! Carville should just shut up for a change.

Carville makes his living by soaking the Democratic Party. He has become irrelevant and the money has stopped flowing. I guess the Carvilles are going to have to cut back and see if they can live on one income from the lovely, lying Mrs. Carville. I’ve often wondered what they talk about in the morning as they share the sink. Once thing for certain, it has NOTHING to do with reality. Sorry, my mind wanders down weird paths sometimes.

Ah, Rebecca:
It may be much more complicated than that. Carville should be considered a mouthpiece, (granted one of plausible deniable distance) for the Clintons. For some reason, the Clintons seem not to want Dean to lead their charge in ‘08.
At this point I am not sure I see why. Dean’s effort has won my support….
But, trust me, something big is afoot…….

Clintons are quintessential DLCs - moving toward the center but risking their souls…(hear me Carper, Liberman et.al.).
The “art” of compromise got us into the last six years of unholy hell.
Clinton sold us CHINA, NAFTA and several other policy decisions that have contributed to the decline of the average American’s wealth, growth, and security.

To Nancy Willing:
But the Clintons also brought us immeasurable respect the world over. They gave us the best economic growth rate in this nations history, and for the first time in my life, ACTUALLY DID SOME DAMAGE TO THE DEFICIT, creating some surplus that actually allowed us to pay back some of the money we already owed. They stabilized the Balkens, which could have been done in Iraq, if reason, not ideology, had prevailed.
So “middle of the roads” should take heart.
Results are what matter. Personally I’m looking for someone to return to economic reality and realize that strengthing the treasury is the direction we need to take. Only then will this country regain “its soul.”
Instead of cutting taxes, we should increase our nation’s usable income, by cutting the deficit.

Hey kavips:
The Clintons have denied any prior knowledge of Carville’s rant, and it didn’t have the polish that a Clinton plant should have, so I believe them. On the other hand, Jimmy knows them well enough to go out and free-lance without consulting them first. You may be right.
Clark for 2008!
Onward!

The reason the Madame Clinton (and all the other Dem Pres Wanabes) want Dean out is that they want to be president… So they want the DNC to implement an “Electoral College” strategy, not a “50 State” strategy in 08.
November 16, 2006 at 4:07 pm
the Democrats used the DNC’s $100,000 to pay for 2 field representatives
a hundred grand?
that’s peanuts for your Dems… you keep that much in your office freezer!
November 16, 2006 at 7:20 pm
Oh, the Clintons had nothing to do with what came after them in the uber destructive form of neocon evil.
If Gore had rightfully taken over we’d be sitting pretty….extremely pretty. The moderation of the Clinton era would have continued and the checks and balances of the middle would have served everyone.
These risky policies would have not have soured.
DEMs can be honest about job loss and they would not have trumped up war…they would have jumped on the Taliban and captured Osama (: - I assume!
My guess is that a DEM administration would have monitered trade balance, and carefully made adjustments when failures loomed, the risk is in the laissez faire and always has been.
This present mess belongs entirely to the GOP, Kavips.
But I would like to think that we should now steer off of the middle and give the beaten path a rest.

Dean is the best thing since apple pie for Dems.Carville wants to take the party to the right. If we wanted that we would vote Republican.GO DEAN GO I have never seen good strong democrate come out of New Orleans,La.
