Jason,
You’re going OFF THE EDGE in your little “note” addition. Have you met both Jensen and Fulcher? I have. And both are sincere when they say they’ve been BEGGING Beau to come on the show for months. That’s ALL that can be done. Beau is not interested. Therefore, under communications law, the station isn’t committing ANY crime. The onus is on Beau. He’s been invited. That’s all that can be done. Talk show hosts working for private employers can essentially say whatever they want. Ever heard of Rush Limbaugh? Al Franken?
I’ve got to say, I feel Rick and Gerry’s show is actually one of the most balanced in the area. They ALWAYS have Dems and GOP on the air to debate the issues. The question — again — is why has Beau denied the offer? Rick and Gerry have only whipped open this can of abrasiveness because of Biden’s hissy fits. Again, you’re reaching here by attempting to connect the “shadowy figure” Booker to the two on-air personalities. Really reaching.
Again, it’s not free advertising. I enjoy a good amount of cynicism myself, but cynicism has to — in the least — make some sense. And I don’t quite follow yours. I think you’re playing up the partisan angle to the hilt. And you know that gets no one anywhere.

Mike –
We have two very different takes on Fulchsen. Gerry Fulcher lied to me off air to get me to go on the show and talk about PDD then totally sandbagged me with some bogus quotes that had nothing to do with PDD but were attacks on my personal integrity.
Other’s have reported the same kind of treatment to me. He is a low-life and when it comes to Biden that comes through loud and clear. Biden would be crazy to open himself up to the kinds of lies and smears Fulchsen has in store for him.
Jensen is the Program Director at WDEL so an email to him would be pointless – so I went looking for someone else to send an email to. That’s all.

Implying Booker is some sort of GOP operative because he has donated to some Republicans in the past is crazy. He gives uninterrupted airtime to Mascitti, who leans so far to the left on some issues that I get vertigo listening to him. Frankly, WDEL went from a right-leaning talker to a center-left one after dropping Limbaugh, firming up Fulcher’s role, and bringing Mascitti on full time. If he’s one of our boys, we need to send him a new playbook.

Great site, Jason! Are you going to try and migrate your Blogspot posts over to this one? It’s a tedious process, but it’s worth having everything on one site, I believe.

Welcome to the dark side.

RIck –
Mascitti does devote entire shows trashing one candidate and plays it mostly down the middle. (If he seems leftists lately it is becuase Bush/Rumsfeld/Castle suck so much.)
Using Fulcher to say that “lies and Yokels” is balanced – I think you’ve made my point.
Mike,
I’m going to try and bring the stuff over. We’ll see how it goes.

Hey Jason!
This will come as no shock to you, but Fulcher is the king of ambush radio. For those of us who are used to dealing in facts and truth it is a harrowing experience to go on his show. I found myself gasping for breath because the his logic was so outrageous. It’s hard to frame a rational response when the guy in control of the mic is completely bonkers. There is no civil discourse on that show. Just more right-wing screaming. And the alleged left-winger is the one doing the screaming. He makes Jensen sound sane. Do you think that’s an accident? Or maybe it’s a deliberate ploy by the right-wing station manager? If Gerry is sincere then he’s being badly used. If not, then he’s just a creep.

Rebecca,
You’re used to dealing in facts and truth? Or are you used to dealing in spin and partisan politics? Is this the same Rebecca that’s head of PDD? Sorry, I may be more in line with your organization than the Dems. in general, however, I have a tough time agreeing with anyone who has the “D” or “R” label as calling what they do “facts and truth.” Because partisan politics — by and large — is total BS.
Yeah…Gerry can be quite bonkers, but at least he’s bonkers for the better candidate. This race is about superlatives. Not politics. And Wharton has Biden beat by leaps and bounds. Democrats can’t see that.
I understand the Dems. are all in a tizzy because their candidate may be getting the short shrift on WDEL, however, he’s brought much of it on himself and you can’t argue that. Al, Rick, and Gerry regularly support liberals and democrats on their show, so your claim that it’s a “right-wing station manager” dictating the station’s agenda is ridiculous and — again — points to your partisan persuasion.
Thank God I’m an Independent.

Mike,
Just don’t get too full of yourself in your I-hood.
Nobody is harder on Tom Carper than me and I am proud ot be a Democrat. So while it is easy to say that I am being partisan (and it is that easy route that Fulcher likes to take) it is not true.
Fulcher is a liar and I have first hand experience with that so you can’t talk me out of this one.

Hey Mike!
Yes, I’m the PDD Rebecca. It’s a lonely job but somebody has to be it. Actually it’s not so lonely because there are a lot of amazing people who have joined PDD and I get a huge amount of guidance and support from them. Thank goodness because there is a lot that needs to be done and changed. Mike, there is no way I’m going to get into the debate over change from the inside versus push from the outside with you. You would debate circles around me. Suffice it to say I prefer change from the inside. And futher suffice it to say I am unashamedly partisan. There is a very big difference between the rising-tide-floats-all-boats values of the Democrats and the I-got-mine-screw-you values of the Republicans. I’ll never forgive Ralph Nader for his campaign of they are all the same. They aren’t. And the very fact that PDD exists and is tolerated, even supported by the DelDems proves that.
